Post Tensioned Inspection Middlewich Road Bridge

This project consisted of locating and testing post tensioned strands within a concrete two span bridge that carries the B5082 over the Altrincham to Chester railway line.
Due to the location of the works, Nicholls Colton Testing were required to use skilled PTS (Personal Track Safety) qualified staff for elements of the site works.
Site work included location of post tensioning tendons from as-built drawings, carrying out pilot intrusions into the tendons to allow investigation of strands and grout within and enlarging initial intrusions to allow specialist stress testing by Strainstall Ltd, appointed directly by Nicholls Colton Testing.
Other works involved further inspection and identification of the post tensioning system and sampling of construction materials for laboratory testing.
