Earthworks at Potters Way, Peterborough

Customer: Kier Construction Ltd

Man in safety clothing performing hand shear vane testingTo meet our client’s requirement of monitoring earthworks placement on this project, Nicholls Colton Testing attended site to carry out compaction and air void assessment by use of a nuclear density gauge (NDG) along with moisture condition value (MCV) and hand shear vane testing and sampling, both from source and in-situ, for subsequent laboratory testing.

Samples were returned to our UKAS accredited laboratory to test for compliance with the project specification. Testing included particle size distribution (PSD), atterberg limits (LL, PL, PI), maximum dry density/optimum moisture content (MDD/OMC) and undrained shear strength (triaxial).
