BTEX
BTEX stands for Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (ortho, meta and para) which are volatile organic compounds.
Benzene occurs naturally in crude oil and BTEX compounds are commonly found near to petroleum and natural gas production sites, petrol stations and other associated locations.
BTEX compounds can have major effects on the nervous system. Long term exposure to Benzene could cause Leukaemia.
NCA use a state of the art Shimadzu GC-MS with headspace to analyse for BTEX.
