VOC
VOCs are volatile organic compounds. VOCs are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids.
There are many different VOCs. They include Benzene, Toluene, Trichloroethylene, Chloroform, Ethylbenzene and Xylene.
VOCs are found in paints, paint strippers, wood preservatives, fuel products, varnishes and organic solvents which are used for de-greasing, cleaning and disinfecting.
A presence of VOCs can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation; nausea; damage to liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Some VOCs are thought to cause cancer.
The NCA VOC suite covers 67 VOC compounds as listed in USEPA method 8260.
NCA use state of the art Shimadzu GC-MS with headspace to analyse for VOCs.
